Frequently Asked Questions
Our patients often have questions about their appointments, cardiac tests, and overall care. We’ve compiled some of the most common topics to help you feel prepared, confident, and informed before your visit.
General Questions
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your insurance card, photo ID, a list of medications, any recent test results or referrals, medical records from PCP and previous cardiologists, ER visit notes, and referring doctors notes.
How early should I arrive for my appointment?
Arrive 15–20 minutes early to complete check-in and any remaining paperwork.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We understand schedules change—please call at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a no-show fee and to help us accommodate other patients.
How do I request medical records?
Submit a completed Medical Records Release Form available under our Forms section. Processing may take up to 7 business days.
Which insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance providers. Please contact our office for confirmation or assistance with coverage verification.
Can I access a patient portal?
Yes. We have a convenient Patient Portal where you can access things like test results, visit summaries, and you can send messages to your care team.
Testing & Procedures
How should I prepare for a cardiac test?
Instructions vary by test. For most stress tests, avoid caffeine, tobacco, and heavy meals, and wear comfortable clothing.
How long do tests like echocardiograms or ECGs take?
Most routine tests take 30–60 minutes. Some advanced imaging procedures may require additional time for preparation and recovery.
Will I need someone to drive me home after a procedure?
Generally speaking, it's best to secure a ride home. If you undergo sedation or anesthesia, please arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home afterward. There may be some procedures (such as echos, stress echos, and nuclear stress tests) where you're fine to drive. Be sure to talk with the team at Florida Cardiac Consultants Inc., before any procedure about sedation, rides, and what to expect.
